Resume

Yann Thoma is professor in charge of reconfigurable systems, concurrent programming, and real-time operating systems at HEIG-VD. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the EPFL. He has been mainly working on unconventional reconfigurable hardware platforms, both within the POEtic and the PERPLEXUS European research projects. He participated to the development of these two platforms composed of a reconfigurable part as well as a processor responsible for the interaction with it. He mainly designed the hardware part and the software applications exploiting the new hardware. These platform both exhibit features such as self-routing and self-replication. He also worked on a new quantum cryptographic system with University of Geneva, for which he developed the hardware architecture, implemented on a reconfigurable platform. He now also works on hardware acceleration by means of automatic translation of mathematical functions to a hardware description language. He has been involved in research projects collaborating with Prof. Sanchez for more than 8 years.
